There is something magical about the windows at department stores in NYC. The way they unveil themselves to the world as wonder and surprise never cease to put a smile on my face. I snapped this pic the other day and it recalls all the magic that the Macy's windows give to the children. I found these creatures to be nothing short of magical and i love the way they move and sparkle. I am just beginning to get into the Christmas Spirit this year as I am finding it a bit hard to really enjoy. I think it's just a case of the bah humbugs and they will be gone before I know it. Always remeber when people are unhappy they will try their best to have a pity party. Don't feed them and they have nothing to work with. Emotions are at top notch this holiday season. make sure you smile to at least three people today. You never know it just might make someone smile back...<3

Samantha McEwen debuts her incredible collection aptly named Voodoo. She did extensive research in Cuba with how the Santeria priests and priestesses dressed themselves for ceremony. She is hoping to vist Haiti soon to do more research and incorporate more fabrics and ideas to her collection. I think this is very adventurous for a new designer and admire her vision.. Funny, crazy, and full of life. She is going to Japan for 4 months to see what adventures await her there. The Magic Quarter

The following is a true story that happened to me a few weeks before Christmas.

I got on the Number 1 train Uptown after having a horrific experience at Trader Joes. I was feeling over sensitive and not sure what was next. I just had a confrontation with a Caribbean sister that epitomized the word "bitch" to a whole new level. Not one to get into confrontations this one came as a surprise. I was wallowing to the bus driver, who happened to be female, as to why is there so much " Black on Black" crime and animosity between Black women? I kept replaying the story in my head over and over again, occupying all my time, getting angrier and angrier and not really understanding. I finally just accepted that this too was a part of life. I switched to the express Number 2 train at 42nd street with my groceries from Trader's. As I sat down I noticed a very large black garbage bag filled to the brim with all I can describe as junk and various junk strewn all over the length of a whole row of subways seats. This bum was dressed in full bum attire. His clothes were tattered, he had a swollen foot, he was missing a shoe that was replaced by a large bandage covered with a dirty white sock. You get the picture a bum completely down on his luck and probably on life. He had various pieces of paper and garbage including half empty Snapple bottles laying on the seats. Everyone on the train had distanced themselves from him as he appeared to be cleaning up but in reality he was just picking it up and then slamming it back down on the seat. I watched him as the train was parked in Times Square station and not moving. Something inside me said "Help him". So I got up, took a deep breath and walked over to him. I said "Sir, Do you need any help?" He ignored me at first. I repeated myself. He looked at me with a mouth full of rotten teeth and said in a loud whiny voice "YA GOTTA DOLLA?" "YA GOT A DOLLA". I could tell this was an automatic response for him so I said "No Sir, I wanted to know if you needed help putting the junk on the seat into your big garbage bag?"
He paused and then said " No thank you" I sat back down and continued to wait for the train to pull off. The bum started cleaning up all the papers on the train and put everything in the large black garbage bag. Within this time period an elderly Asian woman came and sat on the newly cleaned set of subway seats in front of me. All of a sudden the bum says to me "That was very nice of you earlier, Thank you, Thank you and handed me a quarter" Out of shock I said "NO, NO, NO no thank you!!" He took the quarter threw it into my grocery bag so I couldn't give it back to him and walked out of the train. The train doors closed and the train proceeded to move. By this point everyone on the train was looking at me, I was kind of embarrassed that a bum gave ME a quarter and not the other way around. My pride and ego where busting out and I felt like a fool. At that precise moment, almost like something out of a book, I eloquently heard the Asian women say to me.."It is only Human Nature to want to GIVE, That is the key to TRUE HAPPINESS". A sea of emotions came over me and I burst into tears. The women clutched her heart, closed her eyes and allowed me to cry. As I walked off the train a few stops later I thanked her and merely said "I GOT IT"

I will never forget that magic quarter because it taught me that even a homeless person down on his luck can see the power in human spirit and compassion and wanted nothing more than to repay it the best way he knew how. I will never forget the quote "IT IS HUMAN NATURE TO WANT TO GIVE, THAT IS THE KEY TO TRUE HAPPINESS..and I will continue to spread love and compassion to others because that is how I GIVE.

Today was one of those days when the universe just cosmically had me in the right place at the right time... the music, the people, the energy the FUN!!! I had never heard of GIRL Talk until today. My good friend Ms Fitz, stylist to the stars, invited me out to DANCE. I agreed once I heard that special word and ventured out into an adventure. I somehow lost contact with her but went anyway. Well well well this was and trip to say the least. I met up with my good friend Chris from Amsterdam who couldn't wait to join in the festivities. We get there and all we could think about was a party. What wouldn;t be better than a nice glass of beer or wine to get the party started right? I'm old enough and we are responsible adults so why not? It would have been nice but the po po was on extra analness because there were like 1000 Williamsburg hipsters let loose. They set up theses sort of beer corrals where they wouldn;t let us in. Well we just relaxed for a minute and then they let us in once the show started where i was greeted with the most exquisite glass of cold moscato. Ahhh thank you jelly nyc for giving me the most amazing music to DANCE too. It was a combination of awesome mash-ups where you couldn;t help but to move. Beyonce, Michael, Bananarama ahh the list goes on. It was awesome...My creative soul is now at peace ;). Next week GRIZZLY BEAR !!!! FREE!!!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of experiencing the show LIVE at CBS studios. We were there the whole day but I was blessed with the song stylings of Melanie Fiona
KID CUDI ( He's soooo cute / in a stoner type way lol ) cute dimples too ;)

The show was OFF THE HOOK! Melanie blew me away with her voice and presence. Kid Cudi took me into another dimension with his stylings, comedy onstage, and cute glasses that epitomized his really cute face ( can you tell I have a CRUSH??!!!)
Ryan Leslie truly KILLED IT!!! He was amazing. His energy and smile and musical talents shows that he is an intelligent, well cultured, over all amazing musician. I saw him in Paris at the Colette store. For that I give him kudos alone!!! I am now a fan and rocking to my autogrpahed copy of his album. I shoulda copped this earlier but better late than never to be up on the HOTNESS. This July 4th weekend was absolutely amazing!!! All I can do is so pictures to describe the magnitude of good times, SUN, and good friends had by all. I am still charged from nothing but positive energy and music. Central park summerstage exploded with Oumou Sangare all the way from Mali Africa. I came to see Les Nubians who did not disappoint but Oumou really stole the show dropping pearls of wisdom about how the musical instrument the "banjo" originally derived from A F R I C A. Her musical set had me dancing and filled with light as her dancers and her voice glided effortlessly across the sky. This weekend is one for the books.....

It's Like 8am in the morn and I am soo grateful for being up and alive. I was sick with a viral infection/something that resembled strep throat all last week and I was afraid that I was going to be sick FOREVER!!!! The pain was immense but I am back to rocking and rolling. Being sick=No go no where so the pics have been scarce BUT!! My family did manage to throw THE PARTY OF THE YEAR!! All the way in the boondocks. we welcomed I would say about 100 people into the new home! It was phenomenal. Food, Drinks, music , good times all around. Until next time same Bat time.. a girl's guide to hooking up (very informative ladies)

Public fascination with the so-called modern “hookup culture” is endless. It seems every few months someone is publishing another book either extolling the greatness of its freedoms or damning it for being harmful to women or other such nonsense. While I’m not convinced that what goes on now is all that different than the way things have been since at least the 70s, hookups are certainly a part of life for the young and single. Seeing as the word-‘hook up’ is such a nebulous term, I should clarify that I am defining “hookup” as not necessarily sexual intercourse, but something more than making out. Clothing should be optional.

If one takes the time to discover the different situations in which hookups occur, a few things will become apparent:

One: You must be on the same page, as the person you are hooking up with. (Girls, you know what this means…) If you know you are in a strict hookup-only situation with a man, please do not harbor covert plans to turn this guy into a boyfriend. If you want a boyfriend, this is not the way to get one. Getting mad that it doesn’t result in more is only tasteless and shows you’re to be avoided next time. So if he doesn’t return a text, cancels plans last minute, or passes on the cuddle- screw him, then again you probably already just did. If he’s not living up to your expectations, don’t pick a fight with him about it. Move on to someone else.

Number two: Never assume that a past hookup will necessarily lead to a future hookup with the same person, and if it does not, do not take it personally. Maybe your fuck buddy got a girlfriend and didn’t feel like telling you, maybe when you casually slept with your ex it brought up feelings in him he didn’t want to deal with, or maybe you were too drunk to be any good and didn’t warrant a callback. It happens. Don’t take it personally, and refer to the last rule- don’t pick a fight about it.

Thirdly, there is the universally awkward question- “to sleep over or not to sleep over?” Post-hookup you are never required to stay the night, but whether it is proper etiquette for him to offer depends on the situation, which I will address later. If you do choose to spend the night, it is absolutely essential that you leave early and leave quickly the next morning. This means no showers, no making him pancakes, no exceptions. Ever.

Now we will look at the special rules that apply to the four most common hookup situations: The friend with benefits, the fuck buddy, ex sex, and cheating.

Friends with benefits

There are few special rules of proper behavior when you are hooking up with a friend, although it must be noted that rule number two from above goes double in this situation. Because you probably go out together often as friends within the same social circle, it absolutely cannot be assumed that you will be going home together every time you are out. Additionally, because you probably spend significant time together among other friends, it is tacky to advertise that you are hooking up. The cardinal rule is to always be discreet. No going outside to “smoke a cigarette” when all your friends know you never smoke. Friends should never have to know(or suspect) you are hooking up within the inner circle…

When it comes to the friends with benefits situation, if you are going to his place, it is ok to assume that you will be sleeping over even if it is not explicitly stated. In fact, in this situation, telling your other friends that you “just happened to crash” at his place because yours is farther away is probably the best way to casually cover your illicit activities. If he tries to pull the old “Gee I have to get up really early tomorrow” game, he’s probably not worth the “benefits.” Find someone new. I’m not kidding.

Fuck buddies

Because you are not in a relationship, you are both free to act a bit more selfishly than you would with a boyfriend or girlfriend. However, this is a double-edged sword. When in bed, you should feel free to ask for whatever you want whenever you want it, but you are bound to first, reciprocate, and second, not get upset if you occasionally hear the word “no.”

If you are hosting the hookup, always have drinks (or other incidentals if you catch our drift…) on hand. If you are going to his place, offer to bring some, at least some of the time. Nothing is more disappointing than meeting your fuck buddy at his place and finding him out of the proper “social lubrication,” (even if it’s just a phone call away).

What happens after the hookup? In this situation, if you are at his place he is not obligated to offer for you to spend the night, and vice versa. But if you don’t want him to stay, how to politely get rid of him? Assuming you want the fuck buddy relationship to continue, the handling of this moment is key. I suggest avoiding acting like you are about to go to sleep, no matter how late it is. Find a pretense to move both of you out of the bedroom, like mixing another set of drinks, and that’s when you casually offer to call him a cab home. He’ll get the message, and you’ll be spared having to use messy lies.
Ex Sex

So you and your ex go out for a drink to catch up, one thing leads to another, and you wind up in bed again. The first rule- no dredging up the past. If you both know that you’re not about to get back together, do not spend time reminiscing and getting all weepy. It’s a turn-off. The second key thing to remember is that you do not know who he’s been with since you broke up. In other words, girl you better use the condom even if it kills you.

Just checked out the Mens Spring Summer 2010 Show packages and low and behold my discovery is there. Day 983 of my captivity…
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a ‘good little hunter’ I am. Bastards.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of ‘allergies.’ I must learn what
this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow — but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is
obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell,
so he is safe.

NEGRIFIQUE, une exposition d'Alexis Peskine - mytraceAlexis Peskine, a very close friend of mine has just opened his very first exhibit in Paris, France of his artwork. NEGRIFIQUE which is a combo of Black person (Negre)and Magnifique ( magnificent) is the title of his show. In this video he describes how he uses different mixed media with very strong messages. The nails or clos represent a sort of transendance and can represent either suffering or building. Nails can be used to puncture or hold something down OR build something. I think writing is going to be my destiny. i was told earlier this week by a healer that I was to write. Most of my planets are in Gemini the planet of communication and i need to get cracking. No problem for me I actually love to write. It's just editing it once it is done is the tricky part. My discovery just booked the Marc Jacobs campaign with Jeurgen Teller I can't tell you how excited i am :) Things are starting to look up and it is only the beginning.
